About Therapy

So, what is therapy really about?

Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if it is unfamiliar or if you’ve had a past experience that wasn’t the right fit (which happens!). You might be wondering what to expect or whether this will actually help.

At its core, therapy is a space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Through guided conversations, you can gain insight, develop healthier coping strategies, and work toward meaningful change. There are many different therapeutic approaches including CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and more, but they all share a common goal: to foster self-awareness, resilience, deeper connections, and personal growth.

Therapy isn’t something that’s done to you, it’s a collaborative process. The more engaged you are, the more you’ll get out of it. Change takes time, but with curiosity, openness, and a little persistence, therapy can be a powerful tool for growth.

Trauma-Informed Care: Safety First, Always

Feeling safe is the foundation of healing. Trauma-informed care means I respect your boundaries, help you build emotional regulation skills, and support your sense of autonomy and empowerment. Therapy can be challenging. Working through trauma is not easy, but it should never feel overwhelming or re-traumatizing. That is why I move at your pace, stay transparent and collaborative, and approach our work with sensitivity. Healing and growth happen in a space where you feel heard, respected, and in control.
